Ganbate

I frequently hear my students say "Ganbate" although the word/phrase comes in many different spelling (from the youngsters) and so I decided to google it.

What I found out is not the meaning that was awesome but there is actually a dictionary for terms used in animations. Incredible!

Anyway, this is the meaning of "Ganbate":

(phr.) Japanese for “Hold on,” “Go for it,” “Keep at it,” or “Good Luck!

Also romanized “ganbatte”.

The next time I want to give positive reinforcement, I would say "Ganbate"! :)
