Does this apply to state ministers and their family members as well? The public will be very busy checking on their wakil rakyat, I'm sure! Oh YB's, are you trembling in your pants now?

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Public may check ministers' properties online once the system is ready, said Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) Director-General Datuk Ahmad Said Hamdan.
He confirmed that ACA has been instructed to design the property declaration form for ministers and deputy ministers. They are required to declare all properties under their names, as well as their spouses' and family members'.
Ahmad Said told Sin Chew Daily that the declaration of property would be the most effective means to eliminate corruption.
After the formation of the new Cabinet, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi instructed that all ministers and deputy ministers to declare their properties twice in five years of their term of services.
Ministers and deputy ministers will have to report their properties to the Prime Ministers and the Prime Minister will pass the data to ACA for review to ensure the leaders declare their properties truthfully.
Asked when the declaration form will be ready, Ahmad Said said he will let the public know when everything is in place.
However, Small and Medium Enterprises and Human Resource Development Committee deputy chairman Koong Lin Loong said the Prime Minister should have a well-structured property declaration system.
He said that it might be too sensitive for ACA to verify the authenticity of the data declared by ministers and deputy ministers. The Prime Minister should appoint internal auditors to do the job and it would be more credible if he passes the task to private sector.
The usual information required for the declaration of property should include properties owned, cash flow and debts, added Koong. (Sin Chew Daily)
