Taiwan Good Food

The title is a direct translation of the name of this restaurant I went to a couple of days ago.
Well at least that's what I was told coz being a product of a national school (sekolah kebangsaan, SK St. Mary, Sibu to be exact), I did not learn the Chinese Language... therefore I am buta huruf (illiterate)... how sad :( When I go to big coffee shops, I need assistance to read the menu displayed at the individual stalls. Thank goodness for some have English/Malay version and/or pictures taken of their menu.

As we walked in the entrance, the smiling proprietress informed us there's an air-conditioned room adjacent and asked if we preferred to sit there. Well, it's noon and was kinda hot, so we gladly accepted her hospitality. The deco was simple, glossy rectangular wooden (pieces of plank nailed together) tables and matching chairs but the floor was not tiled. Hmmm... We were handed the menu and everything was in Chinese, of course.
Being illiterate, naturally I asked, "What's special here?" The charming young waitress recommended the Taiwan beef noodles (so what else is new?). So I ordered one with kuey teow instead of noodles. The pic shown here is their beef noodles ordered by my hubby. The noodles were specially made, the beef was tender, however the soup was not strong enough for my taste. I had to add their special Taiwan hot oil to spice things up. Btw, we had to ask for the oil and it came in a tiny saucer but they were quick to add if we needed more, just ask for it.

We also ordered drinks. This one is quite special. It's called "Frog laying eggs" but in Chinese, definitely. It's made with lime, gelatine and black pearl (the same ones you find in black pearl milk tea) and it tastes sweet and sour. Quite refreshing on a hot day.
Finally, the famous Taiwanese dumplings, sautéed. Dab it in the soya sauce, chopped garlic and hot oil... yummy, i think it tasted better than the beef noodles.
Besides the famous Taiwan beef noodles, they also serve the usual chinese cuisine. The outlet is next to the Chinese dim sum shop behind a renowned medical centre.

Hi Clare, thanks for dropping by and for the invitation. The truth is I suck at social gatherings, so please excuse me with all due respect. Thanks again.
