Happy Earth Day!

Two weeks ago, I challenged my Form 5 students to make a difference. I urged them to embark on a project to raise awareness about the current condition of the earth's environment and to make a change to their lifestyle in a move to conserve mother nature.

As they had missed the chance to observe Earth Hour on 29/3/2008, enthusiasm was in the air. They prepared speeches in 3 languages (English, Malay and Chinese) and delivered them in our school's monthly co-curricular assembly yesterday. Even the principal said she was impressed. I've said it and I'm going to say it again, "Good job guys! I'm proud of you." They also prepared a brochure and distributed them to the whole school while sharing with their peers about the importance of protecting the environment.

The boys and girls even made a pledge to switch off all lights tonight from 8 - 9 p.m. I also made that pledge in front of the students and also this afternoon on Mag and Pat's radio show at Traxx FM. DJ Pat is joining me and hopefully many others in observing Earth Hour, 8 - 9 pm on Earth Day, 22 April 2008.

I'll upload the pics of my students in action asap. Meanwhile, everyone, including YOU can make a difference when you remember to switch off.
